Govt to reconstruct over 200 high, higher secondary schools

Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is to reconstruct more than two hundred high and higher secondary schools in nine districts of the province.

This reconstruction is besides those which have been hit by earth quake or those primary schools in which all basic amenities are provided under a comprehensive program or the reconstruction of hundreds of primary schools throughout the province.

This was revealed in a meeting held in Islamabad Saturday where in the UK Department for International Development (DFID) reviewed the progress of work over the scheme with KP Minister for elementary and Secondary Education Mohammad Atif.

Besides others Secretary Education Ali Raza Bhutta and Additional Secretary Qaisar Alam were also preset in the meeting.  The meeting discussed in detail the modalities for such reconstruction and decided that the schools damaged by the recent earthquake were be looked after separately from this program while wherever in congested areas multi-storey buildings will be constructed.

It was also decided that neither the pace of work over these reconstructions nor the studies of the students should be disturbed, for which purposes various decisions were made in the meeting. The meeting also finalized standardization of various aspects of these reconstructions.

With regard to the schools damaged by the recent earthquake the participants of the meeting were informed that a proper report as well as strategy is being prepared after which necessary schemes will be soon launched.

The authorities of DFID assured the Minister that they will fully support the KP government in this regard.
