Lahore campus of BZU to get college status for students’ sake: minister

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood has said that the precious academic year of male and female students of Lahore Campus of Bahauddin Zakriya University will not be let wasted at any cost.
He added, “The precious academic year of girl and boy students will be saved by granting the status of college to Lahore Campus of BZU if the problems will not be resolved. Punishment will be awarded to the elements responsible of irregularities in setting up of the campus since boy and girl students are not guilty in this matter.”
He expressed these views while talking to media here on Saturday. He said that all-out measures are being taken for resolving the issues of Lahore Campus of BZU. On the direction of chief minister, a committee comprising senior officials of the Education Department has been constituted which is considering all aspects for resolving the issue.
Mashhood said that 11 such cases including BZU Lahore Campus are under considerations which have been set up in violation of rules and regulations of the HEC.
He said the Punjab government is paying full attention to higher education. He said that 37 new degree colleges are being set up throughout the province whereas provision of missing facilities in existing 58 colleges is in the basic agenda of the department of this year. Replying to a question, minister said that the chief minister has allocated a huge amount of Rs 21 billion for completion of Lahore Knowledge Park which reflects his interest in the promotion of higher education.
