As reported in the press, a spokesperson of LCCI has said, “People talking against Kalabagh dam are not well wishers of Pakistan, and are actually interpreting the sentiments of anti-Pakistan elements.” This is not a fair statement and instead of winning over the opponents will antagonise them further.
It is common knowledge that the project has been politicised by the senior leadership of PPP and NAP. In their ignorance they have frightened the people that the dam will deprive Sindh of its due share of water on one end and will flood Nowshera at the other end.
Our effort should be to counter these unfounded fears with facts and figures and engage the opponents in a healthy debate instead of casting doubts on the integrity of senior political leaders.
