Over Rs25 billion released for rehabilitation of TDPs

80 billion rupees will be spent on rehabilitation of displaced persons over the next three years

The government has released over Rs 25 billion for cash assistance and rehabilitation of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) so far.

According to officials, Rs 80 billion would be spent on the rehabilitation of displaced persons over the next three years.

They said that about 70,000 displaced families had been repatriated to Khyber Agency, 5,770 had returned to North Waziristan while 7,940 had returned to South Waziristan.

The officials said that the government was giving priority to the complete rehabilitation of displaced families in their areas. Work is in progress for reconstruction of destroyed infrastructure, they added.
