The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Saturday sacked three of its employees for attempting to smuggle heroin.

According to media reports, the three employees were trying to smuggle heroin through Dubai-bound flight PK-211. The drugs were concealed in the washroom of the plane.

On the receipt of a tip-off about the presence of heroin in the flight, the plane was diverted to Karachi.

The accused persons confessed to having committed the offence before a joint investigation team of the PIA and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF). The PIA chief has dismissed the three from service under the disciplinary rules.
