Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah has said the Election Commission of Pakistan (EC) has become controversial after its failure in ensuring transparent local bodies (LB) election and demanded that members of EC to quit and admit their failure.
Taking to media persons at his chamber in the Parliament House on Thursday, Syed Khurshid Shah said that after issuing the schedule of the polls, EC was not authorised to follow directives of any institution. Despite this, it brought about changes in 22 polling stations of Badin on Wednesday-Thursday due to which thousands of voters had to face severe problems, while election in 82 UCs of Sindh were postponed owing to different reasons, which was against code of conduct.
He said that PPP held in high regard decisions of Sindh High Court (SHC) but its decision regarding changing of polling stations and postmen of elections in dozens of UCs was against the code of conduct as any such decision was not applicable after the issuance of the election schedule.
The opposition leader alleged that the PTI chairman was also taking advantage of the situation. He said that Khan has become a habitual noisemaker, and raised an outcry that there has been rigging after every poll.
