Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif Thursday presided over a meeting which decided to set up central blood banks in nine divisions of the province.
The meeting also decided to set up nine centers for rehabilitation of handicapped persons under a phased programme and modern facilities will be provided in these centers.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said access to quality facilities of public health was a right of the masses. “Project of establishment of centralised blood bank system is of vital importance for the provision of healthy and safe blood to the patients,” he added. He said supply of safe and healthy blood is essential for quality healthcare. He directed that an institutional mechanism should also be evolved for central blood bank system in nine divisions.
He said immediate measures should be taken for making operational central blood banks in Multan and Bahawalpur as early as possible. He also directed to set up a committee to review setting up of more than one center blood bank in the bigger division in respect of population and area and the committee should evolve final recommendations after considering all aspects.
The chief minister said there is a need for working expeditiously on the project of establishment of rehabilitation centers for disabled and this project should be implemented on fast track basis. He also issued instructions for evolving a comprehensive plan for the implementation of the project.
He said all-out resources will be provided for the provision of public health facilities. He said modern medical facilities were being provided at Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Muzaffargarh to the people of south Punjab.
He said provision of modern and quality health services to the masses was a top priority of the government and all out resources were being utilised for this purpose.
He said reforms of revolutionary nature were being introduced in the health sector which will leave a positive impact. Sharif said that effective measures have been taken for the provision of basic health facilities to the masses at their doorstep.
He said that besides setting up modern hospitals in far-flung areas, health facilities are also being up-graded in rural and basic health centers.
He said that billions of rupees are being spent on the provision of free medical facilities to the poor patients in the hospitals.
Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq, Parliamentary Secretary on Health Khawja. Imran Nazir, Secretary Health, Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan Trust Hospital, Chief Executive Indus Hospital, Chief Executive Officer Chal Foundation, representatives of International Committee Red Crescent and authorities concerned attended the meeting.
Shehbaz directs ministers, secretaries to hold open courts: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed all the provincial ministers, parliamentary secretaries and assembly members to establish contacts with public through open courts and resolve their genuine problems at their doorstep.
The chief minister said that despite government’s efforts, people were facing hardship in getting their problems resolved. “Elected representatives could address local issues of people and thus provide relief to them,” he said.
“The PML-N government believes in service to masses and in this regard all available resources are being utilized,” he said.
According to official sources, the chief minister said due to wise and practical policies adopted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif-led government, the country’s economy is back on the right track that will lead to development and stability. He claimed that loadshedding would be phased out and Pakistan will become a developed country.
Shehbaz personally monitors law, order situation till late night: Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally monitored the steps taken for maintaining law and order situation in 12 districts of the province during second phase of local bodies elections till late at night.
He also issued necessary instructions to provincial cabinet committee on law and order in this regard so that second phase of local bodies elections should end in a peaceful manner. The chief minister gave instructions to cabinet committee to ensure implementation of steps for peaceful holding of local bodies’ elections and ban on carrying and display of weapons. He also issued instructions with regard to indiscriminate action against those involved in firing.
Sharif directed cabinet committee to ensure supremacy of law and justice in the province. While giving clear-cut instructions, the chief minister said that he will not tolerate incidents of aerial firing for celebrating victory and police should take precautionary measures for eradicating incidents of aerial firing.
Sharif directed that indiscriminate action should be taken against the winning candidate and his supporters on aerial firing and effective implementation on law of ban on firing and display of firearms be ensured. The chief minister remained busy in this regard late at night.
