The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to revise the decimations of the constituencies for the local government elections within 24 hours according to its earlier verdict of 18th September and not to delay the election process.

The SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat gave its verdict on several petitions filed by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM and others challenging new delimitation in the province carried out by the provincial government.

The court on 18th September had annulled delimitations made by Sindh government and reversed urban and rural areas to their original positions and directed the ECP to revise the constituencies. But the ECP changed the delimitation, which was challenged by the Sindh government.

The court directed the ECP to revise the delimitation of the constituencies as per its verdict of 18th September for the local government elections in such a manner that election should not be delayed. The court order stated that all revised lists issued by the ECP which are in violation of its order dated 18th September are declared illegal and of no legal effect.
