Exports of services trade up 138.5 % in September

The exports of the services sector of Pakistan increased by 138.5 per cent from $271.12 million in August 2015 to $646.61 million in September 2015.

The imports of the services trade decreased by 13.3 per cent from $613.08 per cent in August 2015 to $531.52 per cent in September 2015, according to data revealed by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

On the basis of these figures, the services sector witnessed a surplus of $115.09 million in September as compared to the deficit of $341 in August.

Similarly on year-over-year basis, the services trade deficit also shrank by 175 per cent as exports of the services sector decreased by 6.75 per cent in September as compared to same month of last year while the imports plunged by 37.21 per cent in September as against September 2014.

The exports in September 2014 were recorded at $693.45 million while the imports in September 2014 stood at $846.45 million. The services trade deficit during the first quarter of the current financial year also shrank by 76.46 per cent from $658.26 million in July-September 2014-15 to $154.94 million in the same period of the current fiscal year.

The exports of the services trade decreased by 9.29 per cent from $1.744 billion in July-September 2014-15 to $1.582 billion in July-September 2015-16. Likewise, the imports of the trade during the period under review plunged to $1.737 billion from $2.402 billion in July-September 2014-15, thus showing a decrease of 27.69 per cent.
