The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Friday froze accounts of the national flag carrier Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) over non-payment of taxes.

According to media reports, the FBR’s Large Tax Unit (LTU) froze the accounts of the PIA over non-payment of Rs 2.2 billion taxes.

“The PIA collected Rs 1.5 billion Federal Excise Duty on tickets but did not pay to the FBR,” an official said, adding it had yet to pay Rs 700 million income tax to the FBR.
