At least five people have been injured in a hand grenade attack in Nayabad locality of Karachi’s Lyari area on Friday.
Police told a local media that two attackers riding a motorcycle hurled a hand grenade at people standing at a local water pumping station.
Rescue personnel shifted the victims to Civil Hospital for treatment.
Lyari is one of the poorest and most violent neighbourhoods of Karachi where clashes between rival gangs linked to political and ethnic groups have erupted continuously in the past.
A grand targeted-operation was initiated in Karachi initiated in September 2013 on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Sindh Police, Rangers and intelligence agencies, were issued instructions for indiscrimninate action to be taken over the issue.
