Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed the project directors of Nowshera and Gajju Khan, Swabi Medical Colleges to make all the facilities available on urgent basis that are required for affiliation of the new colleges with Khyber Medical University (KMU) and their registration with Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC).
He also asked the authorities of Gajju Medical College (GMC) to complete the equipments and other facilities procurement process by 15 December in consultation with KP Procurement Regulatory Authority (KPPRA) and standard of facilities and infrastructure of both new colleges must be ensured in accordance with PMDC requirements. He also directed that commencement of academic session in the new colleges should be planned after provision of all essential facilities and that registration bodies should also not be forced to register the colleges until all necessary requirements are fulfilled.
He issued these directives while chairing a meeting at CM Secretariat today wherein progress on Nowshera and GMC was reviewed in detail and various significant decisions were taken to remove impediment in completion of the colleges.
The speaker, KPAssembly, Asad Qaiser, Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, Special Assistant to the CM Dr. Haider Ali, Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Hammad Agha, Secretaries of Health and Excise departments, Principals of Nowshera and Gajju Medical Colleges and other officers attended the meeting.
Khattak directed to complete the hiring process for the faculty of GMC and also approved a special incentive package for the faculty of the colleges to attract competent health professionals. The chief minister also asked the KMU and PMDC authorities to visit the hospitals for inspection purposes.
The Speaker Provincial Assembly, Asad Qaiser on this occasion urged the need to accelerate the pace of work particularly on GMC and said that he would personally monitor the progress on the college project on daily basis. He said that since the CM was committed to extend every possible support therefore, the project authorities should have no excuse for the delay in the project.
