Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has assured to take all possible measures for reviving the lost fame of Fazale Haq College (FHC), Mardan, on sustainable grounds.
Accepting the proposals and demands presented by the college administration in this connection, he announced to consider the issues of the service structure for the college faculty and staff.
Rs. 30 million budget deficit, necessary facilities including laboratories and solar system, rehabilitation of the deteriorating college buildings, establishment of girls campus and other affairs in the Board of Governors meeting to be convened shortly, he directed.
Addressing the Founders’ Day of FHC on Saturday, the CM said, though in the recent past the college had been passing through rough times which may have tarnished its glory but has certainly not erased it because of the sincerity, professionalism and acumen of those faculty and staff members who were fellows of the founding fathers and still working for the college.
The Provincial Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education, Muhammad Atif, MNAs Dr. Imran Khattak, Ali Muhammad Khan and Mujahid Khan, officers of the district administration, the faculty and staff members, students and their parents, and other dignitaries attended the function. The Principal of the college, Muhammad Riaz Khan in his address of welcome highlighted the history, current activities, achievements, and future plans of the institution and also presented demands for resolving the issues being faced by the college.
Expressing confidence that the new principal and his team will help regain the lost repute of the college, Khattak assured that the provincial government would fully support the college in every possible way so that the traditional and valuable educational services through the college could be continued for the people of the province in general and those hailing from Mardan Division in particular, he added. Congratulating the parents, Mr. Khattak remarked that they have wisely chosen this college for educating their kids and appreciated the performance of the students who exhibited their talent in educational and extra- curricular activities.
Paying tribute to the founders of the college for their sincere, open and silent efforts for establishing the institution, the CM said that the zeal and passion of the founding members was remarkable for upbringing of the area as well as Pakhtoons. As an instance he observed that “had it not been the case the founding principal, Abdul Ali Khan would have preferred to stay in the University of Peshawar as Vice Chancellor, but he chose this college and well being of the locals over his personal gains and status”. Praising the endeavours of the former Governor, Lt. General (Retd) Fazale Haq, and Khattak reminded that due to personal interest and dedicated commitment on part of the late general, the college was brought into existence.
The Chief Minister on this occasion also gave away prizes to the students for their performance in different curricular and co-curricular activities.
