Marc Marquez headed Jorge Lorenzo, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi in a very close final MotoGP practice session ahead of qualifying for the Valencia Grand Prix.

Honda rider Marquez’s 1m31.203s in his second run of practice four put him 0.144 seconds clear of Lorenzo’s Yamaha, which had been quickest in the early running.

There was little to choose between the works Hondas and Lorenzo as they strung together mid-1m31s on their longer runs, although Rossi’s pace tended to be slightly slower.

Andrea Iannone was again among the frontrunners in fifth for Ducati, while his team-mate Andrea Dovizioso was down in 13th after an early crash.

Scott Redding also had an accident, continuing his poor weekend with a high-speed fall at Turn 1, but he walked away unhurt.
