Three criminals apprehended in separate encounters

Police claimed to have arrested three criminals in two different encounters in the metropolis on Wednesday.

A police party signaled two suspects to stop near Dalmian when they were on a motorcycle, but they opened fire and tried to flee. The police also exchanged fire in which the two alleged criminals Nazir, 19, son of Hanif, and Aslam, 16, son of Karam Hussain, were injured.

The police arrested them in the injured condition and recovered weapons and a snatched motorcycle from their possession. The rescue sources said criminals were injured during the encounter and were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for treatment.

In another encounter, a police party raided Farooq-e-Azam Ground area in Korangi No 06 when a criminal opened firing on the police team. The police retaliated fire in which he was injured. The police arrested him and also recovered a weapon and a hand grenade from his possession. He was shifted to the JPMC for treatment.
