Police on Tuesday registered a case against Punjab Assembly lawmaker Sardar Asif Hayat Nakai for thrashing and abusing Pakistan Awami Tehreek’s general councillor candidate Tahir during the local bodies’ elections on October 31.
According to police officials, the incident took place outside a polling station in ward number 5 of UC-96 where both Nakai and Tahir were present.
Sardar Nakai was elected as MPA on PML-Q ticket from PP-193 constituency of Kasur. He is the son of former Punjab chief minister Arif Nakai and cousin of Talib Nakai.
Sardar Nakai has also served as the federal housing minister during retired General Pervez Musharraf’s rule.
