LG polls in ICT: ECP asks political parties to issue tickets by Nov 9

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday instructed the heads of political parties to issue party tickets to their nominated candidates for Local Government (LG) Elections in Islamabad till 9 November as the tickets are required to be presented to the Returning Officer (RO) by the candidate for allotment of party symbol.

The said instructions were dispatched through post to all the political parties on their addresses available with this Commission, said spokesman of the ECP. The LG elections would be held on 30 November in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), he added.

ECP instructed that the party heads of each political party may consider the authorization of a party office bearer to issue party-ticket to the candidates contesting elections in ICT on behalf of political party head.

Party-ticket, either by the Party Head or by his authorized office bearer, shall be issued latest by 9 Nov for the ICT elections for the purpose of allotment of symbol to such candidates by the RO at the time notified by the Commission for the purpose.

Party-ticket issued may not be recalled or cancelled; care may be taken that against one seat only one party ticket is issued. In case, the party head chooses to act in accordance with the provisions, he may provide a list of such authorized office bearers containing name, designation, CNIC No. and other particulars of such authorized person to the District Returning Officer, ICT latest by 26 October who shall forward such list to all RO’s in ICT for necessary action.

Party-ticket may contain name, parentage and NIC number of the candidate; Party-head or the person authorized by him shall put his signature and stamp on each party-ticket / certificate on party letter head and write the date of issuance of the ticket.

Each candidate shall submit the party-ticket issued in his / their favour to the RO concerned at the time of scrutiny of their nomination papers; due care should be taken at the time of issuance that party ticket is issued to the nominated candidate only.

However, ECP did not issue instructions to 30 political parties due to incomplete addresses which includes Aam Insan Movement (IMS), All Pakistan Ghurba League, All Pakistan Minorities Allinace, All Pakistan Muslim League, Awami Himayat Tehreek Pakistan, Gen. Pervez Musharaf Himayat Tehreek, Human Development Movement, Istiqlal Party, Islami Nazriati Tehreek Pakistan, Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (Niazi), Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (Nifaz-e-Shariat), Jamiat-e-Mushaikh Pakistan Pir Fazal Haq, Jeev-e-Pakistan Party, Khud Mukhtar Pakistan Party, Majlis-e- Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan, Mohib-e-Wattan Movement, Muttahidda Tehreek Inqlab Pakistan, Pak Wattan Party, Pakistan Awami Tehrik-e-Inqilab, Pakistan Liberation League, Pakistan Muhafiz Party, Pakistan Muslim League (J), Pakistan Muslim League “H” Haqiqi, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Iqalab, Pakistan Meo Ittihad, Pehchan Pakistan, T,ajir Awam Movement Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Istehkaam Pakistan, Tehreek-e-Khalat Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Masawaat.
