The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday sought comments from the principal secretary to Sindh governor, chief secretary, secretaries of finance and law department on a petition filed against Sindh Civil Service Amendment Bill 2015.

The SHC division bench headed by Chief Justice Faisal Arab was hearing the petition filed by Rana Faizul Hasan of United Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, a non-governmental organisation who moved the court against the newly-passed Sindh Civil Servants’ Amendment Bill 2015.

The petitioner said that the provincial government had passed the Sindh Civil Servants’ Amendment Bill 2015 to provide legal protection to officers who were on deputation. He stated that the Supreme Court of Pakistan had already pronounced its verdict against out-of-turn promotions, deputation, induction and absorption of non-cadre officers on cadre posts and ordered to send back the deputation officers to their respective organisations. “The purpose of the Sindh government is to provide legal protection to its favourite officers with this Bill, the petitioner submitted.

Hasan stated that the Bill had been sent to the Sindh governor for the approval who should be restrained to approve the Bill and same should be declared null and void. The court issued notices to all the respondents to file their comments in the next hearing which will be announced by the court’s staff later.
