Nine dead in Punjab road accidents

At least nine people were killed and 19 others injured in separate road accidents in Punjab on Thursday.

An accident took place at Multan Road in Chouhang where an over speeding van owned by a private company carrying the staffers from Lahore to Manga Mandi overturned due to bursting of a tyre. Five people died on the spot while nine were injured and were rushed to hospital where two more succumbed to their injuries raising the death toll to seven. Condition of the wounded people is also being described as serious. The deceased included five employees of the private company and two others identified as Amjad Pervez and Aamir hailing from district Sheikhupura.

In another accident, rescue sources said that two people were killed and 12 injured in a collision between a van and a passenger bus at Sargodha Road in Sheikhupura. The bodies and injured were shifted to Khanqah Dogran Hospital.

The police after registering the cases at respective police stations have started the investigations.
