At least three suspected terrorists were killed in an encounter at Momanabad area of Karachi on late Wednesday night. At least 20 suspects including a target killer were also arrested.
According to SSP Karachi-West Azfar Mahesar, police on a tip off raided a house in the area and during search operation the terrorists opened fire at the police party. In the retaliatory firing, at least three terrorists were killed on the spot while one of their accomplices managed to flee from the scene. The killed terrorists were identified as Sher Dil, Rahil and Umair. They were involved in target killings, robberies and extortion.
The SSP said that huge quantity of arms, ammunitions and explosive material was also recovered from their custody. Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Siyal, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Karachi Mushtaq Maher and Inspector General Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali appreciated the efforts of Karachi police while the home minister announced cash reward for the Karachi-West police team that took part in the encounter.
Meanwhile during a search operation at Jahangir Road, police arrested at least 20 suspects. Police recovered one pistol and a motorbike from possession of the arrested suspects. Police sources said that police also arrested one target killer from Eidgha area. The arrested accused was involved in killings of four people. Two accomplices of arrested target killer managed to flee from the scene. The police had started search operation for the arrest of the accused.
