LHC looks into allowing admission to male students in FJMU

Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned the counsels for the concerned parties for final arguments on petition filed against allowing admission to male students in Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) meant for female students only.

Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan of LHC Tuesday took up for hearing the petition filed by Zahir Ahmad Mir.

The petitioner took the plea that Section 5 of FJMU act stands alien to the constitution. FJMU is meant for female only and male students cannot be given admission in this university.

Filing reply in the court, legal advisor to FJMU Malik Awais Khalid took the plea that university act was approved as per constitution. The court is not entitled to nullify any clause of the act. The petition be rejected being infructuous.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case till second week of November summoned the counsels of the concerned parties for final arguments.
