- Protest rallies carried out throughout Pakistan, including Islamabad, GB, Azad Kashmir
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the world over observed Black Day on Tuesday to convey to the world that India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir is illegal, unjust and contrary to the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
The day was marked with a complete shutdown in occupied Kashmir, a call for which was given by veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Geelani, along with other Hurriyat leaders.
Special arrangements were made to observe this day with full intensity at the national level.
In this regard, protest rallies were carried out throughout Pakistan, including Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.
Hundreds of Kashmiris gathered outside the Indian High Commission to protest against the Indian state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
People from different corners of United Kingdom (UK) joined the demonstration. They chanted anti-India and anti-Modi slogans.
Geelani called for the appointment of a special representative by the UN general secretary on the Kashmir issue.
He called upon UN secretary general to stress India and Pakistan to initiate efforts along with real Kashmiri leadership and UN for finding a peaceful and lasting solution to Kashmir issue.
APHC leader said this in a letter addressed to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Tuesday.
He held the way UN was playing a pivotal role in resolution of conflicts in the adversities hit regions; it should take effective steps for implementation of the resolution adopted by itself for grant of right to self-determination to people of Kashmir.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude to UN secretary general on extending offer for mediation on Kashmir issue, he said time has come the UN will have to exercise its influence for sorting out Kashmir issue.
