The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of Local Bodies (LB) polls being postponed in Punjab and Sindh, and said that both provinces were safe and secure from the earthquake, and LB polls will be held as per schedule.

According to details, EC said that it had not yet received any applications asking to postpone the first phase of the LB polls in Punjab and Sindh, and the polling will go ahead as per schedule on October 31.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the voters of Local Government (LG) polls to write their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number and SMS on 8300 to locate their polling station and vote through SMS.

The ECP has issued directions to voters for the LG polls scheduled to be held on October 31 in various districts of the Punjab.

According to directions, the voters were directed to bring their CNICs. Voters would be eligible to cast their vote on expired CNICs. It was further said in a directive that a passport, driving license or any other ID card would not be acceptable.

The polling for the upcoming LG poll would continue from 7.30 am to 7.30 pm without any interval, the directive added.
