Modi telephones PM Nawaz, offers assistance for relief in quake hit areas

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned his Pakistani counterpart, Premier Nawaz Sharif and offered assistance in relief activities in earthquake hit areas.

According to details, PM Modi during his telephonic conversation with Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief over loss of precious lives due to 8.1 magnitude which jolted several areas of Pakistan and resulting in massive disaster in Khyber Pakhutnkhwa (KP) province.

The Indian PM told Nawaz Sharif that in this critical time his country was ready to extend all sorts of assistance for rescue and relief activities in earthquake hit areas.
PM Nawaz Sharif thanked his Indian counterpart for goodwill gestures and offer for assistance to deal with the situation created as a result of the natural calamity which resulted in massive lives and property losses.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India was ready to provide assistance to Kabul and Islamabad following a powerful earthquake that jolted areas of Pakistan andAfghanistan.

The Indian PM earlier tweeted, “Heard about strong earthquake in Afghanistan­ Pakistan region whose tremors have been felt in parts of India, I pray for everyone’s safety”. He further added, “I have asked for an urgent assessment and we stand ready for assistance where required, includingAfghanistan & Pakistan”.

The quake which was 213.5 kilometres deep, centered 82 km southeast of Feyzabad in a remote area of Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountain range. Tremors were felt as far away as New Delhi in India and several areas of Pakistan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department said the magnitude of the earthquake was 8.1 on theRichter scale.

Communication services had been disrupted in several areas and property damages also reported across the country.
