Khattak for speedy work on Zamung Kor

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has directed the relevant authorities to expedite the pace of work on Zamung Kor, home for street children, project so as to open it for the children by the end of November.

He also ordered the police department to vacate 36 residential Flats of Nassapa Housing Colony being used by the police officials and also handover the police rest house Nathiagali to the Tourism Corporation for commercial use like other 14 rest houses.

Chairing a meeting held at the CM Secretariat to review progress on Zamung Korproject the CM issued directives to the P&D, C&W, Social Welfare and Housing departments to remove impediments surfaced in smooth execution of the project and take all necessary measures to ensure its early completion. He also directed to acquire the additional piece of land adjacent to Nassapa Flats for sports purpose of the children home.

The CM directed the C&W department to convert the whole colony’s building into purpose build home for housing the street children that must provide all academic, boarding, sports, psychological counseling, medical and other necessary facilities for education, training and rehabilitation of such helpless children.

The meeting was attended by the Parliamentary leader for Anti Corruption, Dr. Haider Ali, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Social Welfare and Housing departments and Chief Engineer of C&W department.

Meanwhile talking to two separate delegations from Dir Lower and Shangla districts, Pervez Khattak said that complaints about non availability of cancer, hepatitis and diabetes medicine in government hospitals would be strictly dealt with as, he reminded, the provincial government had already issued funds for providing such medicines free of cost to the deserving and poor patients.

The Dir and Shangla Delegations, led by the provincial Minister, Mahmood Khan and MPA, Shaukat Yusafzai respectively called on the CM here today. The Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Mohibullah Khan was also present while the ANP leader from Dir Lower, Muhammad Azam Khan announced to resign from his party and join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf along with his associates.

Khattak appreciated Azam Khan‘s decision for joining the PTI and said that the present provincial government’s initiatives for a transparent and merit based governance system and the PTI’s agenda for the people’s rights and justice had persuaded many political leaders from other political parties to join the PTI and for this reason the PTI also gained popularity among the masses which was clearly reflected in the recent local bodies election.

In response to the problems and demands presented by the delegations, Mr. Khattak asked the local people of the upper northern areas of the province to identify more suitable sites for small hydro power generation projects as, he told, most of 356 mini power projects initiated by the present provincial government are near to completion and they will be inaugurated in near future.

He informed that 25% of the development funds had been released for the local governments while another tranche of 25% would be disbursed within a month time. The Chief Minister said that the provincial government had put the local governments on the track by providing them all requires means including the promised financial resources, the guidelines and other rules and policies, and now it’s up to them to show their performance, he added. He, however, made it clear that nobody was authorized to make transfers and postings in education, health or other devolved departments in violation of the provincial government’s policies.

Taking notice of a complaint against Besham police, the Chief Minister ordered removal of the police post from Dandai Bazar and directed to shift it to some other suitable place outside the bazaar. He also sought report from SMBR about progress on the announcement for granting the status of Tehsil to Besham area of district Shangla. Seeking report on a complaint about closed schools in Shangla district, Pervez Khattak informed that the Independent Monitoring Unit of education department had already been directed to identify the non functional or ghost schools throughout the province so that action could be taken against the responsible officials or teachers and such schools could be made fully functional. He added that there was zero tolerance on part of the provincial government over mal functioning of any educational institution, teacher or government official.

The Chief Minister also announced to upgrade the middle and high schools of Dandai and Shagai, construct 20kilometer roads in Besham during the next financial year, provide funds for different small roads of Besham and construct a sports ground at Besham.
