Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has said that the federal government should not make the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) controversial, adding that the prime minister should have consulted the Opposition before leaving for the United States.

Talking to media in Islamabad Saturday after his meeting with JUI-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the JI chief said that the government should work according to the declaration of the All Parties Conference (APC). He said that there are doubts in many about the route of CPEC; government should clear them.

“Government must not step back from the economic corridor because country’s future depends on it”, said Haq.

Answering a question about Prime Minister’s tour to United States, he said that PM did not consult opposition before the visit as they would have asked him to raise Afia Siddique’s issue with US president.

Rehman once again blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan for receiving money from Jews. He said that he knew it long ago but now Khan’s own party workers and officials are saying the same know.
