At least five persons died and 14 others were wounded when a passenger van plunged into a deep gorge here on Friday.
Rescue sources said that the accident took place at Tala Sheena Road in Lower Dir where driver of an over speeding passenger van lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn and fell into a ravine.
The police and rescue personnel reached the scene of accident, pulled up the bodies and injured from the ravine and shifted them to District Headquarters (DHQ) Timergarah where according to hospital sources condition of some more wounded people was serious and it was feared that death toll could rise further.
Police said that the accident was caused due to reckless driving and over speeding.
