The paramedics of Shaikh Zayed Hospital on Saturday continued their protest in front of the administration block against the proposed privatisation of the institution with the formation of board of trustees.

The paramedical staff, including nurses, for emergency and medical wards abandoned their work and squatted in front of the administration block protesting against the proposed privatisation.

Doctors at the hospital said the board of trustees had been formed through an act of Parliament and could only be reversed through a piece of legislation.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Zayed Medical Complex chairman & dean assured the protesters that the hospital was not being privatised. He said he had already constituted a committee for a meeting between the hospital’s administration and Allied Health Union.
