Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that the party is investigating whether any rigging had taken place in the NA-122 by-poll, as the party’s Lahore chapter pinned the blame for PTI candidate Aleem Khan’s loss to the PML-N candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on four local leaders.
“Please let me clarify that as of now I’m not claiming that any rigging took place in the NA-122 by-election,” Imran Khan said during an interview on a private news channel. He added that he will take a position on the issue after the party completes its internal enquiry.
Khan said that he would attend the upcoming session of the National Assembly and would also congratulate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on his victory in NA-122 by-polls if PTI’s enquiry into the alleged changes in voters’ list exonerates PML-N of any wrongdoing.
The PTI chief refuses to comment on the status of his marriage to Reham Khan, saying he did not want to discuss his personal matters on TV.
FOUR LEADERS RESPONSIBLE:
Meanwhile, the PTI Lahore chapter has held four leaders responsible for the defeat in the NA-122 by-election.
Sources revealed the party office-bearers have complained about four leaders to Imran Khan.
They said that Mehmoodur Rasheed, Shafqat Mahmood, Murad Ras and Zarqa Taimur had not played their role in the by-election. “The PTI would have won the NA-122 seat easily had the four leaders took interest in the by-election,” said the sources.
They said that PTI leadership had decided to issue show-cause notices to the leaders for not playing their role in by-election. “It has also been decided that these leaders will not be issued tickets in the next election,” they said.
On the other hand, the PTI has started a detailed audit of losing the NA-122 election and a report will be prepared in this regard soon.
