NEPRA approves Rs 2.60 per unit reduction in tariff

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved Rs 2.60 per unit reduction in electricity tariff for the month of August.

The relief will be provided to the masses in December bills under the fuel adjustment plan. Overall, the masses will be given relief of 16 billion rupees. Earlier, the NEPRA reduced Rs 2.39 per unit for the month of June and July. This relief will be given in October and November billings.

Nepra reported that 2.48 billion units were produced through furnace oil, Rs 2.72 billion units through gas, hydel sources generated 3.97 units whereas 4 percent electricity was produced through nuclear power plants. The K-Electric users will not enjoy this price cut. Electricity generation through furnace oil cost Rs 10.92 per unit and gas Rs 5.70 per unit.
