The Auditor General of Pakistan has sought explanation from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over publishing of excessive ballot papers in the general election 2013, a private news channel reported on Saturday.

The ECP published at least 11.7 million excessive ballot papers that cost an additional Rs 34.1 million. The ECP paid Rs 2.90 per ballot paper.

The opposition parties’ leaders, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan have repeatedly raised the issue to the authorities in the past.
