The Majlis Wahadtul Muslimeen (MWM) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan-Niazi (JUP-N) on Friday announced to support the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for the upcoming by-poll in the NA-122 constituency of Lahore.

This development came when PTI Punjab Organiser Chaudhry Sarwar, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema and election candidate Abdul Aleem Khan met with MWM Deputy Secretary General Allama Iqbal Kamrani and other leaders. The two parties also struck a seat-adjustment deal in the upcoming Local Government elections in Punjab.

Sarwar thanked the MWM, and observed that the time had come to fight and stand up against the menaces of corruption, bad governance and status-quo.

He was of the views that all well-wishers of the country must be united for the rights of the people, and said no country could progress unless the rule of law was ensured and the people were given the basic facilities.

Sarwar criticised the inefficiency of the governments in Punjab and in Centre, saying the offices of federal and provincial government were being used for election campaign of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz. The PTI leader further said his party would not let anybody steal the mandate of people this time.

Speaking on the occasion, MWM Deputy Secretary General Allama Kamrani said his party had decided to support the PTI since the incumbent government did nothing for the masses besides creating crisis one after another.

The PTI meanwhile also requested the Jamaat-e-Islami for its support for the by-election but the latter sought time to reach a decision. PTI leader Ch Sarwar, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed visited JI Lahore Ameer Mian Maqsood and Deputy Secretary General Fareed Paracha on Friday in this respect.
