Indian national award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut has turned designer for a limited-edition line called ‘Marquee’ for brand Vero Moda.
There collection has five broad themes — Dandelion Dreams, Deep Lake, Red Velvet, Royal Enchantment and Gold Rush — and includes designs that are casual, formal and only for occasions.
“For the collection, I pretty much followed what globally is going to be trend. We have exciting categories with no confusion. There are dresses for brunches, gigs and many such special occasions so there is no confusion. You can just pick the right outfit and flaunt it,” Ranaut said.
The actress debuted her line at Mehboob Studio in Mumbai on Wednesday night. With celebrities such as Dino Morea and Elli Avram taking the front rows and live music while the models sashayed down the ramp in glamorous outfits, it was a star-studded event.
While Dandelion Dreams features botanical design elements, beaded embroidery in a buffet of diffused dandelion design patterns, Deep Lake takes inspiration from the colours of a deep lake. Red Velvet has a classic theme — the pieces are dramatic, accentuated with lace and embroidered with rich floral patterns.
Inspired by royalty, Royal Enchantment has a rich mix of luxe embroideries in geometric patterns.
Finally, Gold Rush takes its inspiration from the term ‘Midas touch’ and sweeps golden hues into its mix.
