The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the Sindh Rangers director general and Inspector General to submit their comment on the petition seeking whereabouts of a man who went missing since September 21, 2015.
The SHC bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat took up the petition filed by Huma Zehra, the wife of detainee, who moved the court against law enforcers for illegally detaining his spouse, Muhammad Sohail. The petitioner stated that her husband, Muhammad Sohail, was never involved in any criminal activity nor he belonged any political or religious party.
The wife of the missing man stated that her husband was at their home in Firdous Colony, Gulbahar on midnight of 21st September when the Rangers forcefully entered and picked his spouse and sine then his whereabouts has not been traced.
She apprehends that Muhammad Sohail must be in detention of law enforcement agencies but they are not disclosing his custody.
Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh and SHO Gulbahar police station as respondents, she prayed the court to direct the respondents to produce her spouse before the court.
After the initial hearing, the court issued notices to Attorney General and respondents to file their comments on 15th October.
