US Republican candidate Ben Carson said on Wednesday he’s pulling in lots of money amid all the backlash he’s received for remarks he made regarding Muslims in politics.

“I remember the day of the last debate, within 24 hours we raised $1 million. And it’s coming in at least at that rate if not quite a bit faster,” Carson said, according to CNN.

“The money has been coming in so fast, it’s hard to even keep up with it,” the retired neurosurgeon said, while responding to a question about whether his comments had affected his donations.

Carson who is in third place according to a latest CNN/ORC poll claimed the donations poured in after his controversial remarks about Islam and the presidency during a CNN debate on September 16.

However, the CNN said it will not be able to verify the fundraising totals with the Federal Election Commission until after the quarter ends on September 30.

The Republican contender ignited a storm of controversy at the weekend, by stating that he saw Islam as incompatible with the charge of head of state.

Carson was heavily flayed for his comments about Islam with one organisation even calling him to resign. The Republican candidate seems to have shifted his position on the issue since saying he would support a Muslim president who swore to put the US Constitution before religion and disavowed Sharia law.

“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that,” Carson had said during his appearance on ‘Meet the Press’ on Sunday in response to NBC’s Chuck Todd’s question, “Do you believe that Islam is consistent with the Constitution?”

  1. Ben Carson belongs to that category of Blacks who think they are white and forget they are descendent of Muslim Africans who were brought to this country in chains and in the cargo section of the boats. He is trying to ignore the segregation prevalent even now. Just visit any southern state and you will know what it means. He also ignores recent Police killings of Black youths. What has he done about that. Nothing because he considers himself white. Then why should blacks vote for this bum.

  2. It is right to say, similarly as us ,pakistanis forgot their ancestry. They portray themselves as if they all are desendents of arabs who considers them inferior. I havent seen any pakistani getting treated fairly in any of arabian countries whether its saudi, oman, yemen, jordan or UAE. Despite similarity with indians with regard to their look, food, language, customs, they are not ready to accept the fact that all of us were broke off from india in 1947 in the name of religion. This stated by aurangzeb who used to covert thousands and thousands of people to islam everyday against their will. We need to remember that we are humans first and then muslim, not the other way around. Even power hungary jinnah had regretted his decision to create pakistan before his death.
