Local police on Thursday arrested two policemen involved in an incident that resulted in death of 50 cattle heads.

The Punjab chief minister had taken notice of the incident about the death of 50 goats in Gujrat and ordered action against the responsible policemen.

A case has been registered against five policemen, including a police post in-charge, involved in the incident that caused death of the animals at a cattle market.

District Police Officer (DPO) Rai Zameerul Haq told the media that two policemen nominated in the FIR had been arrested and raids were being conducted for arrest of the three others.

The police post incharge along with other policemen detained cattle traders when they refused to sell goats at a cheaper price to him.

The policemen also released cattles from the market and pushed them towards a railway track. As a result, more than 50 goats were crushed to death under a train running from Rawalpindi to Lahore. Thirty goats were injured in the incident.
