The physical remand of Khalid Shamim and Mohsin Ali, the main suspects in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case, has been extended by 90 days.
According to Interior Ministry sources, Shamim’s remand was extended on Thursday (yesterday) and Mohsin Ali’s on Wednesday night. The decision was taken on the recommendation of the Law Ministry.
Meanwhile, the government of Pakistan has not yet made any decision about handing over the three suspects, arrested in connection with the case, to the United Kingdom.
An Interior Ministry spokesperson said they would only take a step as per the law of the land. He however ruled out a possibility of handing over the prime suspects, Mohsin Ali Syed, Moazzam Ali and Khalid Shamim, to the UK under any administrative or executive order of the government.
