The Ministry of Water and Power has announced that all industrial sectors will exempt from electricity load shedding till December.
Uninterrupted supply of electricity to the industrial sector will not only help boost economy, but also exports particularly in the textile sector.
In the last several years, energy shortage had been a ‘dominant constraint’ to the economic growth and it was the reason the economy grew by less than four percent.
The power sector has been able to utilise 90 percent of its available generation capacity and reaching to record 16890MW electricity generation during the current year.
Domestic load-shedding has been reduced significantly while industrial load shedding has gone to zero from 8 to 12 hours.
