The Asia’s biggest animal market on Superhighway, Sohrab Goth, has put the pedal to the metal as around 1,24, 000 sacrificial animals were sold in just previous three days yielding more than Rs 8.6 billion, said Animal Market Administrator Rana Imran on Monday.

“Most of the people visited the market during last week. We are hopeful that this surging sales trend before Eid Ul Azha would help cattle merchants sell all their animals this year,” he said.

He told PPI over 0.2 million cows, 70, 000 goats/sheep and 2,000 camels had so far been brought into the market.

During a routine inspection, he directed his team and water suppliers for ensuring sufficient water supply for both animals and humans in the market.

He also visited different stalls and checked the arrangements for sanitation and cleanliness, lifting of garbage and animal waste from the animal market to facilitate the Karachiites.

“We are taking all possible measures to facilitate the Karachiites in purchasing sacrificial animals including security and safety arrangements while on our request Sindh Police and Rangers have made special arrangements for patrolling in nearby areas of the market,” he said.

The administrator market also issued instructions to display the price lists of food items on every shop so that the citizens could get goods at the official price. He said it would not be tolerated if shop owners took extra money on food items.
