Karachi sizzles at 42°C today: 2 die from heatstroke

Temperatures rose to 42 degrees centigrade in Karachi on Saturday as two people died from heatstroke.

According to local media, the Met department had forecasted a 5 to 6 degrees increase in temperature on September 18, 19 and 20. Temperature can go as high as 40 degrees.

Met Office had forecasted dry and hot weather for Saturday saying that low winds are blowing from North West with 34 percent humidity in the air, reported local media.

Secretary Health said that the Sindh government has declared an emergency in all the hospitals across Karachi, directing the staff to be present on duty.

Keeping in view hundreds of casualties from sizzling heat in Karachi in the month of June this year, the weather experts have advised the city’s residents to consume more water and remain indoors in the face of rising temperature that is likely to last till Monday.
