The Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) would be moulded into an effective and trained force that could respond in a rapid manner.

This was decided in a meeting held at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Friday to review matters pertaining to the SRP.

A detailed briefing was also given to Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Haider Jamali with senior police officers in attendance.

The meeting was informed that an anti-riot squad of 1,000 personnel would be available to the Sindh Police from the current month.

The IGP, who was presiding over the meeting, directed that reforms should be introduced in the police department. He also ordered that the police-public liaison should be made effective at every level.

The IGP directed that the Sindh Police be activated in the realms of sports as well and they be allowed to participate in national and local sports competitions.

The IGP also called for steps for organising the Sindh Police Sports Day.
