The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday authorised five complaint verifications and as many enquiries against senior politicians and bureaucrats accused of involvement in corrupt practices.
The first complaint verification (CV) was authorised against PML-N MNA Syed Iftikharul Hassan, Sarfraz Shah and others for allegedly misusing authority and gaining illegal pecuniary benefits.
The second CV was authorised against Syed Ali Nawaz Shah, ex-minister agriculture Sindh, and Agha Zafarullah Durrani, DG (AE&WM). In this case, the accused persons are accused of misusing authority and giving illegal orders to the officials of Sindh On-Farm Water Management (SOFWM).
The third CV was authorised against Zaheer Ud Din, ex-provincial minister Punjab, and Akhtar Ali, ex-town nazim Faisalabad. In this case, the accused are accused of misuse of authority by acquiring government land illegally in Faisalabad through manipulation in revenue record and illegal construction and obtaining pecuniary advantage through dishonest and illegal means.
The forth CV was authorised against officials of Ministry of Industries and Production. In this case, the officials are allegedly involved in corruption and causing a loss of Rs 3 billion to the national exchequer.
The Executive Board Meeting (EBM) also decided to authorise five enquiries.
First enquiry was authorised against Akhtar Buland Rana, former Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP). In this case, the accused person is alleged for corruption, corrupt practices and misuse of authority.
Second enquiry was authorised against Dr Zafar Iqbal, ex-vice chancellor Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST). In this case, the accused person is accused of financial misappropriation, mismanagement and malpractices in the affairs of FUUAST.
Third enquiry was authorised against Dr Jospeh Wilson, ex-acting chairman of Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP). In this case, the accused person is accused of corruption and misusing authority, thus causing a loss of approximately Rs10.22 million to the national exchequer.
Fourth enquiry was authorised against Gayan Chand, former minister forest & wildlife Sindh, Waseem Ahmed Ursani, ex-secretary forests and Riaz Ahmed Wagan, ex-chief conservator of forests for alleged misappropriation of Rs 150 million in the budget of Forest & Wildlife Department Sindh.
The EBM also decided to close enquiry against MNA Rana Muhammad Ishaq, officials of TMA Pattoki, Kasur and others, Complaint Verification (CV) against Muhammad Zaka Ashraf, ex-president ZTBL and former chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board, and former SNGPL MD Arif Hameed were closed due to lack of incriminating evidence.
