Punjab CM boasts successful projects

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that funds were trust of the nation and that every penny of public money was being spent honestly and on the welfare of the masses and provision of basic amenities to them.

Talking to a delegation of office-bearers and workers of PML-N, he said that billions of rupees of public money had been saved by holding successful negotiations with the lowest bidders for various projects and this example set up by Punjab government was unprecedented in the history of the country.

The chief minister said that PML-N government had served the people selflessly during the last seven years and effective measures were being taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for coping with the challenges being faced by the country.

He said that transparency, high standard and speedy completion of development projects was the hallmark of PML-N government.

The chief minister said that Punjab government was spending billions of rupees on education, health, water supply and other public welfare projects. He said that mega projects of public welfare had been completed expeditiously and in a transparent manner throughout the province and people were fully benefitting from these projects.

Sharif said that a culture of merit, transparency and speedy completion of development projects had been promoted in the province.

He said that a programme had been started for the provision of safe drinking water in all tehsils of Punjab by 2017 under Saaf Pani Project and billions of rupees were being spent for this purpose.

He said that special attention had been paid to the improvement of health facilities in the province. He said that besides construction of new hospitals, availability of doctors and medicines was being ensured in tehsil and district headquarters hospitals and rural and basic health centres. He said that foundation stone of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center had been laid in Lahore and that free treatment would be provided to the poor, destitute and deserving patients in the state-of-the-art institute constructed with a sum of billions of rupees.

The Punjab chief minister said that Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute would be a masterpiece with regard to medical science, clinical research and provision of medical facilities and that it would be up to the standard of the best institutes of its kind in the world.
