Five PIA officials accused of having ‘fake degrees’

As many as five top officials of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) are holding fake degrees and enquiries against them have been swept under the carpet.

According to credible sources, the five officials, who work as assistant manager and duty officers, included Tanvir Qasim, Wajid Salim, Qaisra Tabassum, Irfan Basit and Muhammad Ejaz, were inducted into the national flag-carrier in 1996 without any test or interview.

The sources told Online that after an internal enquiry was launched against them, the officials purchased fake degrees from Al-Khair University in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The officials have undertaken foreign visits several times besides getting promotions by providing fake degrees, according to the sources.

A case has also been pending in a court against these officials. Several applications were also sent to the FIA for action against these officials but the request fell on a deaf ear.

When contacted, PIA Human Resource Manager Muhammad Rashid said that a case of the five officials was sub-judice and refused to comment on the issue.
