An accountability court on Saturday indicted Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim and 10 others in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) land scam case.
Fahim did not appear before the court as he is abroad for cancer treatment while his co-accused rejected the charges and said they would contest the charges.
Accused in the case include Amin Fahim, Ayaz Khan Niazi, Salman Ghani, Amin Qasim Dada, Muhammad Zahoor, Zahid Hussain, Hur Rahi Gardezi, Naveed Hussain Zaidi, SM Iqbal, Amir Hussain and Khawaja Akbar Butt.
Suspects in the case are accused of purchasing 10 acres land in Karachi’s Korangi area and selling it to the government at an inflated price which led to millions in losses to the national exchequer.
The court has summoned witnesses during the next hearing of the case scheduled for September 30.
