Barrister Ali Zafar has prepared a review petition against the cancellation of his license by the court.

Ali Zafar told Online news agency that despite explanation of show cause notice, his license was cancelled for a year. He added that he has prepared a review petition to challenge the Supreme Court verdict, which he is likely to file on Monday.

He said that in the review petition it has been stated that the court verdict was baseless and based on prejudice and there was no evidence against him, adding that the things which have been mentioned in the verdict are not stated anywhere in the show-cause notice.

“As per law and constitution, approval was sought from former CJ, Justice Nasirul Mulk to travel abroad,” he said, adding that on his return he knew that not only the case was heard despite adjournment in his absence, but its verdict was also declared by the apex court.

Barrister Ali Zafar further said that it was a matter of concern that he neither wrote a letter to CJ nor filed an application against it.

In his petition, Zafar said that he would pray the apex court to review the verdict and restore his license because he has to contest for the slot of president of Supreme Court Bar Association in upcoming bar elections.
