Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Secretary Babar Yaqoob on Friday directed all stakeholders to establish strict implementation of the code of conduct during by-elections.
He stressed the conduct while talking to the media after meeting Punjab Election Commissioner in Lahore. He said that returning officers (RO) would take strict action against violators.
Yaqoob said that any political party found guilty of any violation will face strict action. However, he added that the parties have ensured him that they would follow the rules and code of conduct in the elections.
The Secretary vowed to hold polls in a free and fair environment. While answering a question, Yaqoob said that the ECP is keeping a vigilant eye over funds issued by the government so that they are not used for political purposes.
