10 dacoits including killers and their facilitator arrested

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Islamabad has arrested three criminal gangs and recovered weapons, motorbikes, jewelry, bridal dresses and electronic equipment from their possession, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

Senior officials of Islamabad Police Department assigned the task of ensuring the arrests of those involved in dacoity, burglary and other criminal incidents to Superintendent Police (SP) of Investigation Muhammad Ilyas. The SP constituted special teams under the supervision of DSP CIA Bashir Ahmed which included Sub-Inspector Shamas ul Akbar, ASIs Suleman Shah, Abdul Hafeez, Ameer Sajjad, Rana Tasneem Ahmed, Shah Nawaz, Muhammad Ali, Nasreen Abbassi and others.

These teams succeeded in arresting 10 gangsters including females and recovered weapons and other valuables from them.

The gangsters Khalid Mehmu, Nasir, Ahmed Saeed, Shahid Mehmud, Haris and Rubina used to barge into the various houses and snatch valuables from the inmates at gun point. Police recovered four 30 bore pistols, 17 rounds, and two motorbikes from them and they confessed their involvement in 10 dacoity incidents in various areas. They admitted to injuring Dr Uzma Khan during firing on June 11, 2015 after barging into her clinic `Al-Fazeelat Medical Centre’ in Akbar town, New Shakrial.

They are also reported to have committed several such dacoities in the New Town area of Rawalpindi and murdered one person during one of the incidents.

The female accused Rubina used to provide accommodation to the criminals and facilitate them in dacoities at various houses.

Two other gangsters Tasawar Hussain and Imran confessed their involvement in burglary incidents in the Loi Bher area. Police have recovered six `tolas’ of gold from them.

Additionally, two nabbed gangsters Saifur Rehman and Riaz have been found involved in various incidents of theft and dacoity in Golra. Police also recovered six `tolas’ in jewelry, bridal dresses and electronic equipment from their possession.
