Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar has denied existence of any armed wing in the party and said that majority of the detained workers were not guilty.

The MQM Rabita Committee members and MPs, who have resigned from the parliament, were holding a press conference here on Friday.

“Although the party activists are being arrested but the authorities concerned do not bring it to our knowledge which is violation of human rights and the law of the land,” Sattar complained.

The MQM leader further said, “Local Bodies elections are very close to be held but MQM has been kept under an unannounced and unconstitutional ban.” He said his party was only demanding its basic rights.

He demanded of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other ruling authorities to respect the mandate of MQM, adding that political activities of the party should also be restored.

Commenting on the MQM lawmakers’ resignations, Dr Farooq Sattar said the party MPs tendered resignation and withdrew from dialogues process in protest.

He also demanded of the Prime Minister for lifting the ban on party chief Altaf Hussain’s speeches and statements.
