A local court on Thursday indicted Muhammad Asif Nazar aka DJ Butt for violating a ban on loudspeakers in the federal capital during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s sit-in last year.

DJ Butt whose beats punctuated political rhetoric during the PTI’s sit-in against alleged rigging in 2013 general elections denied charges during the hearing. The court asked the accused to produce evidence on September 10 to support his statement.

Speaking to media outside the court, DJ Butt said the court told him that he had caused ‘nuisance’ for Islamabad residents as he played music in the Parliament Lodges and D-Chowk during PTI’s sit-in.

On August 24, Assistant Commissioner Islamabad Waqas Rasheed approved pre-arrest bail for Butt after he appeared before the court.
